Quick Start: Your First Translation in 5 Minutes
Welcome to Funshow! This guide will walk you through your first translation project.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- β Installed a Funshow add-on (Installation Guide)
- β A Google Workspace document (Sheet, Doc, Slide, or Form)
- β Content ready to translate
Step 1: Open Your Document
- Open the Google Workspace file you want to translate
- Make sure you're signed in to your Google account
Step 2: Launch Funshow
- Click Extensions in the top menu
- Select Funshow from the dropdown
- Choose your desired feature (e.g., "Translate" or "GPT Tools")
The Funshow sidebar will appear on the right side of your screen.
Step 3: Select Content
For Sheets:
- Highlight the cells, rows, or columns you want to translate
- Or select the entire sheet
For Docs:
- Highlight the text you want to translate
- Or click "Translate entire document"
For Slides:
- Select slides from the list
- Or choose "Translate all slides"
For Forms:
- The entire form will be analyzed
- Select which sections to translate
Step 4: Choose Language
- Click the language dropdown in the Funshow sidebar
- Search or scroll to find your target language
- Select from 130+ available languages

Step 5: Configure Settings (Optional)
Choose translation mode based on your content:
- Standard - General content (default)
- Technical - Technical documentation, API docs
- Creative - Marketing, social media
- Formal - Legal, business documents
Step 6: Translate
- Click the "Translate" button
- Wait for processing (usually 1-2 minutes for typical documents)
- Review the translated content
Step 7: Review & Adjust
- Check the translation quality
- Make any manual adjustments if needed
- Verify formulas (Sheets) or formatting (Docs/Slides) are preserved

Content Preparation
- Clean up before translating: Remove unnecessary content
- Use clear language: Avoid complex idioms or slang
- Check spelling: Fix typos before translating
Translation Quality
- Choose the right mode: Technical vs. Creative matters
- Provide context: Add notes for ambiguous terms
- Review carefully: AI is accurate but not perfect
Performance
- Translate in batches: For large documents, break into sections
- Close unused tabs: Better browser performance
- Stable connection: Ensure good internet speed

Q: How long does translation take? A: Most translations complete in 1-2 minutes. Large documents (1000+ cells or 50+ pages) may take 5-10 minutes.
Q: Are my formulas preserved? A: Yes! In Google Sheets, all formulas, charts, and conditional formatting are preserved.
Q: Can I undo a translation? A: Yes, use Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on Mac) immediately after translation. We recommend keeping a backup of important files.
Q: What if I'm not satisfied with the translation? A: You can re-translate or manually edit the results to improve accuracy.
